By: Well, Gilgamesh?  But assembled and translated by N.K. Sanders.

What’s it about:  A 5,000 year old story, perhaps the oldest story on Earth, about the hero Gilgamesh.

Main takeaway:  I read this after listening to a podcast where he stated this story had a lot of references to what could be considered aliens (Gods, the Annunaki).

I guess there were so odd things such as references to immortal gods, scorpion people, and “ships”, but I didn’t quite get that.

That said, it’s the oldest written story and the classic hero tale.  Gilgamesh battles foes, overcomes fear, loses his best friend (which I think we have to say the relationship seems a bit gay, right? Not judging ya but just saying), and seeks eternal life.  He discovers he can’t have eternal life, and returns home.  He dies and his legacy lives on!
